Fashion weeks now may not be as exiting as FW’s a few years back, but once a while there comes a brand that makes everything giddy again. It makes you want to wear everything and it just makes you happy, and hot and….. Y/PROJECT SS17 show is a total winner for us this season. Finding inspiration in Baroque period costumes, Gothic bourgeois style, 21st-century club-kid, sexy - street – sportswear is a total hit with us.
The silhouette is still utterly feminine with exaggerated, re-worked and deconstructed details done up in dark theatricality. Key pieces are denim hotpants with matching chaps and garter straps, cuff-linked paneled flared trousers, tuxedo dressers, crushed velvet body-con pieces, corseted gowns with pearl straps, Breton fishermen sweaters stripes, cable knit bomber jackets. As for accessories, we have corsets, Pearl chokers and dress straps, silver graphic ear cuffs and rings, corset logo belts, snake triple wrap belts, and Andy Wolf eyewear.
The Y/PROJECT SS17 show's soundtrack was as eclectic as the collection. Emerging to the operatic sounds of Carmina Burana followed by a lighthearted Bossa Nova number then rocking the full house crowd to punk noise that brought in the streetstyle vibe that is one of Glenn Martens' signatures mixed with baroque creations. All we can say at this point is: we love it, we want to wear it, we just want everythinggggg.
